A few Tips on what you can have on YOUR SITE:
Personal Sites Personal Web sites can have many goals. Often the goal is simply to share something about onself with coworkers, friends, family and others. Personal Web pages are a great way for people to learn about others with similar interests and people in one culture to learn about others.
Commercial Sites Business Web pages cover a wide range because their goals and expertise and resources behind them vary so much. The first question to ask about a busines Web site is who can access it? Some sites are intended for the World Wide Web and everyone on it; others are on the World Wide Web but password-protected or otherwise restricetd in access; still others are on private networks that are inaccessable to outsiders.
Topical Sites That's "topical" not "tropical." A topical home page is a resource on a specific topic. A topic can be an internet or volunteer group of which the author is a member, in which case the page may grow over time into something much like a business Web site. Or it can be about any interest, cause, concern, obsession, or flight of fancy that you have. In this sense, the Web is like an out-of-control vanity press, allowing anyone to go on and on about anything - sometimes offering something of great value, sometimes not. The best-supported topical interest area on the Web is on Web publishing itself.
Entertainment Sites Being entertained is one of the top three reasons that people use the Web, and the number of such sites is growing. Humorous pages and services such as multiuser dungeons and shared games on online services are now expanding onto the Web. Entertainment sites are usually for more fun than "just" entertainment. For one thing, many include advertising or are intended to at some point down the road. Ad sales and advertising support for sites is one of the trickiest issues on the Web because until very recently the Internet was a noncommercial environment. Educational elements are often included in the entertainment mix, covertly or overtly. These complicating factors and the high expectations that people have of entertainment sites can make these sites some the most demanding ones to create.
